What is WOM?

WOM (World Of Mariners) in its simplest definition; It is a platform that aims to gather all sectors operating on maritime under the same roof.

What is the Purpose of WOM ?

WOM aims to ensure that ships can easily access all their needs across the world through a single platform, while doing this, to establish competitive justice among service companies, and to provide maritime companies with quality service at an affordable price.
While meeting the ship's needs:

- Minimizing the time and energy spent,
- With the competition that will occur between the companies providing the service, the ships can reach the necessary products and services with optimum pricing without sacrificing quality,
- Meeting all requirements, including personnel, at the requested ports, in accordance with the needs and value,

It is the reason WOM exists.

How WOM Works?

WOM provides service through the https://www.worldofmariners.com website. After all members complete the registration process with their personal information on the same system, they can complete their profile by following the directions according to their field of duty.
 These task areas are:

:: INSTITUTIONAL ACCOUNT :
A single account is defined for each company. By using this account, identification and authorization processes of individual accounts belonging only to people working in the company are provided. Apart from this, all transactions made on behalf of the company can be made by individual accounts within the scope of their authorization. Institutional accounts according to the company's work (but not limited to) :

:: PERSONAL ACCOUNT :
All accounts opened individually are personal accounts. With the authorization of the companies, individual accounts can perform transactions on behalf of the companies they belong to. Office and ship employees who are not affiliated with any company can create a resume by opening a personal account, follow up open positions compatible with their resumes, and apply. These applications are displayed in the system of authorized company employees.


:: SHIPYARD / SHIP MANAGEMENT COMPANY OFFICIAL (PERSONAL ACCOUNT)
Company officials are defined as company officials from the company account defined for the company they are working with and are authorized in accordance with their department. In addition, an unlimited number of people as company employees can be defined and authorized by the company account. Authorizations determine the actions that individuals can take on behalf of the company. For example, while the personnel department officer can create an announcement for the ship's personnel, the purchasing department officer can create a monthly store purchase announcement for the ship. All of these authorizations are granted or removed by the corporate account of the company. Different authorizations can be given to each department, and all authorizations can be given to a department. Or, for audit purposes, only observation can be provided without authorization of the transaction.

:: SERVICE COMPANY OFFICIAL (PERSONAL ACCOUNT)
Personal accounts defined by the service company they are working with can make transactions on behalf of the companies they are affiliated with, within their authority. For example: After the account authorized to prepare price offers in the food supply company completes the pricing process, the prepared offer can be sent to the company requesting the offer with the approval of the account authorized to approve. Or, auditing accounts can only observe without transaction authorization.

How can I open an Institutional Account as a Shipowner / Ship Management Company?

 First, you can connect to the relevant page by clicking on the Create a company account section on the WOM platform. As a Shipowner / Ship Management Company, you must continue and fill out the relevant form completely.  In order to create an institutional account as a Ship Owner and/or Ship Management Company, there must be at least one ship owned and/or operated by your company. Some documents of your ship will be requested by the system in order to create evidence, together with the ship information belonging to your company or the ship you operate .

After the form you fill out completely is audited and approved by WOM managers, your corporate account as a ship owner / ship management company is opened to use as defined to your company's e-mail address . Depending on the density and transparency of the information provided, the approval period may take a few days.

How can I open an Institutional Account as a Shipowner / Ship Management Company?

First, you can connect to the relevant page by clicking on the Create a company account section on the WOM platform. As a Shipowner / Ship Management Company, you must continue and fill out the relevant form completely. In order to create an institutional account as a Ship Owner and/or Ship Management Company, there must be at least one ship owned and/or operated by your company. Some documents of your ship will be requested by the system in order to create evidence, together with the ship information belonging to your company or the ship you operate .

After the form you fill out completely is audited and approved by WOM managers, your corporate account as a ship owner / ship management company is opened to use as defined to your company's e-mail address . Depending on the density and transparency of the information provided, the approval period may take a few days.

How can I open an Institutional Account as a Service Firm?

First, you can connect to the relevant page by clicking on the Create a company account section on the WOM platform. As a Service Company, you must continue by specifying your sub-service area and fill out the relevant form completely. Some documents belonging to your company will be requested by the system in order to create evidence about your service area.

After the form you fill out completely is audited and approved by WOM administrators, your institution account as a service company is opened to use as defined to your company's e-mail account . Depending on the density and transparency of the information provided, the approval period may take a few days.

How Can I Open a Personal Account?

You need to fill out the form with your personal information by clicking on the Create a personal account section on the WOM platform. After the information you have provided is verified, you can log in to the system with the e-mail address in the system and the password you defined.

What are the types of authority that can be given to company employees?
  • Announcement creation: It is the authority to create announcements on behalf of corporate members. Individual members equipped with this authority can create announcements on behalf of the authorized corporate member.
  • Activation of the announcement: It is the authority to activate the announcement on behalf of the corporate member. Members equipped with this authority can activate created posts to match with other interested members.
  • Evaluation of announcement replies: Individual members, equipped with this authority by the institutional member, have the right to view the replies to the announcements activated on behalf of the institutional member, to evaluate the replies to the announcements, to view / download information about the replying members.
  • Audit: members equipped with this authority can view the advertisements created, activated and answered on behalf of the corporate member for auditing purposes. Members equipped with supervisory authority can only audit and cannot take any action.

Institutional members can authorize individual members not to act on behalf of the institution. Individual members can be equipped with multiple authorizations for multiple departments by corporate members. A member can be authorized both in the personnel department and in the purchasing department, as well as equipped with both announcement creation and announcement activation privileges.

What is the Purpose of the Requested Documents?

WOM acts as a bridge connecting all maritime sectors that are in contact with each other. All required documents are aimed at understanding the reality of institutions that operate on the WOM platform.

In order to prevent a company that does not have a ship from making a catering announcement and making the shippers aggrieved, and a company that does not make a catering company from making a bid and making a ship operation, each company proves that it operates in its own sector, aiming to prevent the WOM members from experiencing disability.

How do the requests reach the addressee?

The WOM platform works entirely on an algorithm developed based on detailed reviews and research so that members can complete their requests in a timely, accurate and complete manner. While companies create their demands for their ships on the WOM platform;

  • Type of service (provision, shipyard, etc.)
  • Time to Service (ETA-ETS)
  • Duration of service (time from start to completion)
  • Service port
  • Service content (list of requested actions)
  • Service details (detail about requested transactions)
The service companies that are defined in the system to create advertisements and only meet these data can display these advertisements.
Companies that view ship requests can create detailed price requests. During the book-building period, the owner or ship management companies will bids and answers they receive are provided to the service companies either openly or confidentially. The company that created the announcement determines the openness and confidentiality. It can prevent being asked again by giving clear answers to the questions that all companies should know.

After the request collection period is completed, the company that has the announcement can evaluate the offers and view the information of the company that made the offer it deems appropriate, and contact them.

How to Post a Staff Announcement?

Personnel announcement form for the ship or office is fully completed and published by the Person Account authorized by the Company Account to post personnel announcements.
As long as the ad is active, it can be displayed in accounts with an active resume that meets the ad, under certain criteria. Candidates can apply for the job postings they want from here.
Likewise, Company authorized persons can view active resumes compatible with their postings, they can contact these people and access their contact information.
In this way, without getting lost among thousands of job applications, resumes suitable for the advertisement are listed, and mutual demands are met in the optimum way.

What is the Purpose of After-Service Evaluation?

After the service is completed (or after the contract of the personnel has expired), an evaluation form prepared specifically for the relevant service is sent to the systems of both parties when any of the service receiving and service parties’ states that the transaction has been completed.
According to the evaluation results, scoring is applied to all companies (and personnel) using a special algorithm, provided that they remain confidential in the system. Reviews remain confidential to WOM and are never shared with third parties. Companies cannot view both other companies' scores and their own scores.
The purpose of the scoring system; is to ensure that all parties focus on quality standards. In addition, it is to prevent serious working companies from being victimized by companies that cannot comply with quality standards.
The mutual interests of the party members on the WOM platform are protected by the imposition of sanctions such as restrictions on access or cancellation of membership to companies whose public image is evaluated as negative by their interlocutors.
